1/5/2012 · Truss rod adjustment . Taking all the strings off at once allows the neck to relax. Restringing doesn’t always bring the neck back to exactly where it was. However, tweaking the truss rod will impact string height, so neck relief needs to be set before adjusting the height of the strings at the 12th fret. Taylor ‘s factory settings are 6/64 and 4/64 for E and e at the 12th fret.

I figure I paid $100 for a chance to hang out a bit and talk about guitar setups, strings & such and build a relationship with an excellent tech. The actual setup was free at that point.

3/21/2015 · 592. Mar 12, 2015. #1. I pulled my GS Mini out today after a long while and put some new Medium 80/20 Elixers on it. I don’t play it a ton because the action always feels a bit difficult for me, but I play mostly electrics with good setups. So I tried adjusting the truss rod today to see If I could find a better sweet spot.
